THANKING THE VOLUNTEERS

Local sporting clubs live and die on the support of their wonderful band of Volunteers and we are no different, over the coming weeks we’d like to show our appreciation to some of our wonderful hard working Volunteers.

Definition….
1.a person who voluntarily offers himself or herself for a service or undertaking.
2.a person who performs a service willingly and without pay.

This week a grateful club pays homage to Bobby Giannitis.

What can one say about Bobby??
Heart and Soul sounds about right. Bobby is a fixture on training nights, game days, both senior and junior, always willing to help with anything that needs doing.

He’ll happily run water on a senior match day, or put on the umpire escort vest, he’s even filled in as Team Manager to help his Roosters.

His most valuable contribution each match day is… well the Valuables. Bobby bags up the players Wallet’s, phones, jewellery and other expensive stuff and makes sure they are safe and sound as his boys strut their stuff on the field of dreams.

He’s usually one of the last to leave after making sure he’s cleaned up the rooms. He has a kind word for everyone, will happily go out of his way to drive people home. I’m sure if you saw him on Edwardes Street he would be helping someone across the road – That’s the kind of guy Bobby is.
With his ever present can of Pepsi Max in hand, those words we have heard so often roll of his tongue – “what do you need? I’ll do it”.
