Well 5 action packed games on the weekend! In the juniors two huge preliminary finals at Redleap Reserve, and three games with massive ramifications for the big boys..

The under 11’s stormed into a grand final with a stunning performance against Laurimar Teal.
A howling gale was blowing and we took full advantage in the first term booting 5.3 to zip. They hit back with 3.5 to zip so we headed the sheds with a 10 point advantage at half time. That was out to 18 at the final break, would it be enough?? You better believe it! In fact, we outscored them against the breeze to run out 20 point victors and book a table at the big one against the high quality but beatable Montmorency in the Grand Final.

Well done to Brad and the team. Enjoy the week and prepare well. Footy’s a wonderful game and you only have to beat a team once to taste the ultimate glory. Good luck and well played.

The under 15’s unfortunately bowed out to South Morang, but not without one hell of a fight. The boy’s started brilliantly in the opening term making use of the breeze to hold sway by 25 points but as good sides do, the Lions hit back with a vengeance in the second to take an 11 point lead into the main break. From there it was a dog fight, our boys gave it everything and then some but were not able to bridge the gap, eventually going down by 19 points.

It’s been a great ride for the 15’s over the last few years, working their way up to Blue division and giving it one hell of a shake. To Phil and his team well played – you let on one down with your efforts this year! Be proud of what’s been achieved, enjoy and break and we hope to see you all back next year ready to go again.
Well Played.

So to next Week, where the under 14’s take on Bundoora Park and the 11’s up against Montmorency. At time of writing the venues are not known, but hopefully back to back somewhere close by, stay tuned….

On the senior side of things, the 19’s headed out to Hurstbridge seeking four points and a Mill Park win at Laurimar, Well they got both… Which means the boys are FINALS BOUND….Well done to Ross and the crew, they have fought hard all year and this is great reward for the team. They will take on Lower Plenty who are a handy outfit, so it promises to be a great encounter… Details to come as fixture/venue yet to be confirmed, for the record we think it will be Sunday at Whittlesea but hold the phone on that one just for now…. For the record, it was a tight 121 point victory for the boys – Good luck for next week.

The reserves had the block buster top three clash with Bundoora and we came away with the 4 points and a double chance locked away for the finals. It was a good preparation for the finals as first up after Macleod next week will be Bundoora again. It was an impressive 46 point win to stitchup the double change and that return meeting with Bundoora in the first week of Finals at PCO – but before that, a final hit out against Macleod..

As for the seniors, well we’re heading back to PCO….. Finals are locked and loaded the only question is who will be the first weeks opponent. A 7 goal win at Bundoora ensured we’ll be defending the crown come finals time. Monty have moved into 5th on the ladder and are looking the favourites at this stage to be the first up opposition in the elimination final.

This was a tough affair an even first quarter saw us with our noses just in front. It was out to 22 at the half and a great third quarter had a comfortable 6 goal led at the final change. It was 7 goals at the final siren and mission accomplished – All three senior Men’s team heading to finals!

For the 19’s those finals start next week, while the reserves and seniors have one more home and away game to go against Macleod to tick off first, before the finals action gets underway.

We again hosted junior finals on Sunday and another big thank-you to all those volunteers who came out to help out on the day and stayed around for a bit of a drink and nibble later Sunday afternoon as the club threw open the doors to say Cheers to our wonderful volunteers. It was a great roll up and a good time was had by all.

That’s it – two huge Grand Finals next week for the juniors good luck to the Under 11’s and 14’s more to come later in the week. Also to the 19’s as they play Lower Plenty in an elimination final and the seniors and Reserves will head to Macleod for some pre finals fine tuning…

So that’s another massive weekend done and dusted, with a bigger one to come.
Rest up you’ll need the energy coming into the pointy end of the season!

See you at the footy.
Go Roosters.
