Well, we’re getting to the pointy end of the season now, only 5 games this weekend, but massive stakes involved with them all…. Saturday’s action has the under 19 boys heading to Hurstbridge looking for a win and Mill Park to do the right thing and beat Laurimar. If those stars align then our boys will be playing finals the following week. Whilst Hurstbridge have struggled all year, you can take nothing for granted in footy. The boys will be ready to go to get the win and have the fingers crossed for good news elsewhere…

Over at Bundoora the reserves take on – well Bundoora of course, 11.55 and as mentioned above the stakes are high. We sit one rung below the bulls on the ladder a win will guarantee the double chance and another meeting with the boys from Bundoora in the first week of finals. A loss, no we’re not entertaining a loss, the boys will get it done… don’t miss it.

At 2.10 the big boys will look to lock in the finals spot that after a 0-6 start to the year looked just a pipe dream.Bundoora will miss the finals for the first time since 2000, but will be looking to make our path to back to back as hard as possible. They’re always a threat on their home deck at Yulong Reserve this will not be one for the faint hearted.Get along and cheer the boys on, it will be a cracker.

To Sunday and while our under 14 boys will be sleeping in, comfortable in the knowledge they have a grand final spot locked in, our Under 11’s and 15’s will be heading to Redleap Reserve at Mill Park (behind the stables shopping centre of Childs Road) to take on Laurimar Teal and South Morang Blue respectively in the no second prize – Preliminary Finals.

11.15 is the start time for the under 11’s. In our only meeting this year in round 7, at Laurimar they got us by 19 point’s but we have come a long way since then and Brad and the team are full of confidence after last week’s great win and will be looking to extend the season one more week. Best of luck.

Straight after at 12.45 the 15’s will clash with the impressive South Morang. The one and only meeting this year back in round 7 at South Morang had the Lions up by 12 at the final bell – after we gave them a 5 goal head start, a bit like last week’s game! I’m sure Phil will have the team ready to fire from the opening bounce on Sunday. This one really does promise to be cracking affair with some very talented players from both sides on display, you don’t want to miss it…Good luck Boys…

We are again hosting Junior finals this weekend, so if you’re around and can lend a hand, don’t be shy, there is always something to be done. This is a great revenue raiser for the club, with the tender out for our new rooms exciting times are ahead for J.E.Moore Park. If you can help out please do. Speaking of volunteers, the club rooms will be thrown open Sunday arvo after the last junior final from 4- 6 to show our support and thanks to those of you who pitch in week in week out and help get our 14 sides on the park each week. Get on down for a refreshment and snack, some good company, and hopefully revel in the details of 5 great wins over the weekend.
