31 May 17

Saturday Afternoon the club hosted its 2nd Presidents luncheon for the season, it was a terrific occasions well supported with a packed house who enjoyed a terrific feed courtesy of our Great sponsor Di Parsia catering.

The guest speakers on the day included Sandro Sirriani who spoke about the club's vision for the future. Sandro has been doing some great work behind the scenes mapping out plans to take the club to the next level – One Team, One Dream, One Community there is some exciting times ahead as those that saw the presentation Saturday will tell you, buckle up for the ride, it promises to be an exciting time as the club moves forward.

Rob Maiorana then spoke about his return to the club as senior coach, he gave an update on how the season has progressed so far and his plans for the remainder of the season, his admiration for the volunteers who put in so much time and effort to ensure all our sides get on the park each week, and he reflected on his own playing days in the famous Red, White and Blue.

Senior Women coach Brett “Polly” Pollard and Superstar player Mon DiMatteo then spoke with great passion about the progress of our inaugural Women's side who are flying in their debut season (notching a 5th straight win on Sunday). Polly brings great experience to the role being a part of the Calder Cannons coaching staff and as an assistant coach with Carlton in the AFLW this season.  Not bad credentials to bring to his coaching role at West’s.  Mon spoke of her passion for the game and how exciting it has been to be a part such a great adventure setting up a brand new team, and how welcomed the Ladies have been made at the club.

And finally to finish a packed list of speakers senior player Ali Fahour spoke about his full time role with the AFL multicultural department, the importance of weeks such as the indigenous and multicultural rounds in the AFL/NFL raising awareness across the community and on his own ongoing playing career at West’s and how proud he is of the club's own multicultural inclusiveness.

It was a sensational luncheon enjoyed by all who attended.

We hope to see you at the next one, stay tuned.
