THE THURSDAY PREVIEW - BROUGHT TO YOU BY HARVEY NORMAN PRESTON
16 May 19

Welcome to another weekend of great footy action. At the top end only the under 19’s will see any action this weekend as the Representative round of football takes precedence. From a club point of view , both Cat O’Bryan and Michelle “Milly” Millhouse have been selected in the women’s rep team and we await any selections for the Mens side. The women’s match is Saturday at Queens Park Highton from 9.50 against a combined AFL Barwon team, while the men’s match kicks off at 2.15 at the same venue with the NFNL taking on The Geelong Football Netball League for the number one ranking in the state. Goodluck to all!

Closer to home, our Under 19’s head out to Lakes Boulevard to take on South Morang. The boys have strung back to back wins together and will be looking to make it three on Saturday Morning from 9.40am. With no other senior action this weekend, get along and cheer the boys on. This should be a highly competitive game and I’m sure the team would like a bit of support in hostile territory.

Jumping back to Friday night, the Netballers are in action against North Heidelberg 5 at RMIT University court 4 at the very respectable time of 6.30pm. After a bye last weekend the Ladies will be raring to go for this one. Again, they would love a bit of support from the sidelines! If you can get out to RMIT make the trip and cheer loudly… Good Luck Ladies.

Back to Saturday and Auskick will of course be in full swing on the top oval. If you can’t get to South Morang for the 19’s then stick you head in check out the next generation off superstars from 9am. It’s also not too late to register and join the program, so if you know of anyone, the more the merrier.

To Sunday and the Junior action has 4 home games, 5 on the road and one getting the week off. Grading has finished and division’s locked in (see below for where teams have been allocated.). At this point the draw is only out for this week, hopefully the remaining games will be locked in before too long.

At home all the action is on the main deck kicking off with the under 9 Blue team tackling the Research Rebels for the very parent friendly time of 10.15

The 14 Girls combine, fresh from a first up victory last weekend will be looking to make it back to back against Diamond Creek Women’s Red from 11.30. In a two team division our developing girls are in the Red division.

The exciting under 13’s find themselves in Blue division and will look to back up last week’s great team effort when they host Northcote Blue from 1.00

The home action winds up with the under 15’s seeded in Blue division on a very impressive start to the year, taking on the might of Montmorency it fires up at 2.30

Away from home

U9 Red at Mill Park Blue , Redleap Reserve from 10.15am – what is it with these start times? Very respectable.

U10 have the short trek to Sir Douglas Nicholls Oval to take in the exciting Fitzroy Stars outfit from 10.15

The U11’s see’s 4 Divisions across the league with good numbers at this age level and our team on the back of some very impressive results in the grading games find themselves in the Blue division. They will head up the highway this weekend to take on the equally impressive Laurimar Black from 11.30

Meanwhile at Yarrambat from 2.45 our Blue rated Under 16’s will be looking to keep a good streak of footy going against a highly impressive opposition, should be cracking contest.

FiNALLY, the U17’s wind up the playing action with a visit to Greensborough games starts at 1.15PM. We’ll say the boys are in Blue Division – which is technically correct as there is only one division. The boys will be smarting from last week’s last minute defeat, expect a determined effort this week.

That leaves us with the 14 boys have landed in Green division and will get to put the feet up this week with the bye, no doubt they will be itching to go next week.

And that is a playing wrap.

Just a reminder the memorial service for Richard Laidler who sadly passed away last Friday will be held at the club rooms on Friday from 2pm. Again our thoughts and prayers are with Richards family and friends at this difficult time.
