Yes, We’re back! It seems like forever since we went away for the long weekend break to refresh the batteries, reflect on what has gone and gaze to the future and what needs to be done as we turn for home in the season.

We finished the first part of the season on a high in both seniors and juniors, with A much needed win with the big boys and a brilliant mid season junior review that had the house full of kids and parents in a ripping night. Now the focus shifts to what’s to come and it all starts this Saturday with a massive home clash against Montmorency. After the dismantling of Lower last start there is a buzz in the air and some anticpation about the contest to come, a very winnable game as we look to build on the momentum from last start and who knows make an unlikely charge to Finals action. Hey as the ad says, Dont Believe in Never…. Action from 2.10pm.

In the reserves Scott and the boys are coming off that amazing come from behind victory last up in Shaun Barkers 400th club game, just had to mention that again, 400 wow…. Anyway, enough Shaun gazing. The boys have strung two impressive victories together and have the sites set firmly on Monty this weekend, they sit above us on the ladder as we push for the top 5 a win is imperative this weekend don’t miss a second of the action from 11.55.

The day kicks off with the under 19’s who continue to battle hard against the odds – when i say against the odds, a combination of injuries and calls up to the One’s (well done to those lads, which just reinforces the pathways are in place) means the boys are not at full strentgh each week and with the possibility of a 23rd man selection for the Seniors this week again the boys will have to dig deep against a high flying Mill Park outfit who have been playing some impressive footy. Our young men will not let us down, get along from 9.40 to cheer them on. And just a quick shout out to the boys from the juniors that have been helping out throughout the season, it’s much appreciated, don’t stop putting up your hands…

Rounding out the senior action the Ladies are finally back in action with a home clash on Sunday against last years vanquished grand final opponent in Montmorency due to the break and a bye it’s been a while since any game time for these ladies, I suggest you have your seats by 3.00 as i expect the start to be electric,. What better way to wind down your weekend, Bar will be open, Canteen serving up a smorgasboard of delights (the chips and Gravy have certainly been a hit) where else do you want to be…

Tonight we continue our Train n Dine nights with the 14 girls combine in the house for a training run and then a feed. Will be great to have the Messiah in the house with his exciting group of young ladies, who are improving week on week as the season progresses and now set their sites on Yarrambat this weekend up on the top oval, Sunday at 10.30, don’t miss it.

To the rest of the junior action, and the under 9 Red team have a home game against Diamond Creek Demons from 10.30, but before they grace the hallowed turf, the 9 Blue team will be in action from 9.00 against the Creekers of Diamond Creek, lets make them welcome and then showem what we can do – bedazzle them with skill and determination.

The 10’s are on the road to Bundoora Park in another enticing affair, both teams are packed with excitment machines, in what promises to be classic encounter, buckle in from 9.00am.

The 11’s open proceedings on the top oval in a match up against Eltham Black who sit just above us on the ladder in 3rd spot, so the stakes are high in this one, promises to be an exciting affair you need to secure your spot by 9.00 – grab a Bacon and egg roll from the canteen, add a hash brown if that takes your fancy and possie yourself in the right spot and you can watch the action on both ovals.

For the second time this year the 13’s will play host to Eltham Black who in the first encounter gave us a touch up to be honest. The kids tried hard all day but up against one of the benchmarks of the competition it was tough going. The Legend, having turned down the Blues offer of a care taker role to stay with this group, will be looking to see how far we have improved since that early clash. It wont be easy but then as we all know Blue div is the best of the best, our kids will do us proud bounce down at 11.45.

The 14 boys are on the road at Eltham Red and looking to sustain the form from pre Queens Birthday break when they toppled the top of the table side, a win this weekend will consolodate second spot on the table and set up a charge to what we hope will be finals action, but that’s a long way down the track, getting ahead of myself here… Cue the cliche One Week at a Time. Oh 1.30 Central Park.

As mentioned above the Messiah and his 14 Girls Combine are at home against Yarrambat top oval from 10.30.

in the 15’s we have a home clash with Laurimar whom were yet to meet this year. looking at the results they should provide a stern test, one we will be up for no doubt, the action kicks off at 1.15, some exciting talent in this group, dont miss it.

The 16s are travelling to Greensborough in one of those 8 point games we talk about from time to time, they sit above us on the ladder by 4 points if we hope to push for finals action then this is one we need to grab on the road, it kicks off at 1.15

Wrapping it all up the under 17’s are on the road to Montmorency at 3.00, it’s the first meeting for the two teams this year, Monty are a traditionally strong outfit and the results would back that up this year, it will be a challenge no doubt but if anyone can pull it off it’s Jarrod and his boys. If you’re out that way drop in and cheer on the boys – promises to be an entertaining encounter.

That leaves us with just the Netball, which really kicks us off for the weekend, the ladies are in action at the new venue of Harvest Home Primary School, which is located at 365 Harvest Home Road in Epping, so not to far away to take in the action Friday night from 9.30 against Bundoora 7 and of course Auskick, Saturday morning from 9.00.

Just a side not – You would have read a lot in the papers of late about crowd behaviour at AFL games and abuse to umpries etc lets set the benchmark for the NFNL and respect our umpires and oppostion i know we already do, but lets keep it up in particular at our Junior Games, more often than not the umpires not much older than the kids playing and they need the same encouragement as we give our kids, So lets make the theme for the weekend and the remaider of the season RESPECT, Lets show the NFNL our Class.
