WPLFC UPDATE RE COVID-19
13 Mar 20

Members / Players / Supporters of the West Preston Lakeside Football Club,

In light of the current issues related to the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Committee thought it appropriate to communicate with everyone involved in the club.

We are closely monitoring the developments relating to COVID-19 and updates as provided by Health Authorities, the Australian Government and sports governing bodies. At this stage all training and fixtures will be going ahead but we are aware that the situation is moving quickly and this may change.

We strongly encourage families to please demonstrate a more conservative approach than they might normally. If anyone has an elevated temperature or other flu-like symptoms, please stay home from training or games. Similarly, we trust that all families will follow self-quarantine recommendations should the need arise.

Below is the the COVID-19 virus update just received from AFL Victoria and a link for more information.

Importantly, please look after one another and follow the instructions to protect yourselves and limit the spread of this virus. More information will be supplied as it comes to hand so please be on the look out for that.

AFL update for Community Football: COVID-19

The health and safety of our football community – participants, players, coaches, umpires, volunteers and fans are paramount.

The AFL is closely monitoring the situation with respect to COVID-19 and it is important that any information you receive with respect to COVID-19 or any other infectious illness comes from a reputable source. We are regularly consulting with the Australian Government, the World Health Organisation and the AFL’s Chief Medical Officers on the best advice for our football community.

The health and safety of participants, players, umpires and volunteers underpin our ability to conduct matches and sessions that are so loved by our communities, supporters and members.

For weekend 14th and 15th March 2020, for community matches and current operating NAB AFL Auskick centres – please use the link below.

Given COVID-19 remains a situation with the potential to change rapidly, the AFL will continue to work with relevant authorities and will update the football communities as new information comes to hand.

Regards,
AFL
